Coming from the graffiti movement and immersed in the urban environment he loves, Tone practiced street art while pursuing degrees in architecture and graphic design. He earned his degrees in both disciplines in Marseille, France. Upon arriving in Montreal in 2004, he devoted himself entirely to his art.
Tone’s visual work draws its essence from the metropolis: its energy, its spark, its perpetual motion, its ceaseless flow of images. He uses mixed media in his compositions, which combine typography, architecture, graphic design, the human face, and calligraphy. His creations also draw on elements of pop culture and graffiti. Fragments of text, stencils, images from magazines, old newspapers, items salvaged from the street or industrial wastelands, ink, markers, pencils, various materials, and paint are spread across the surface, translating urban thoughts that can be examined with curiosity and delight.
Tone exhibits his work in several art galleries and event venues in France, the United States, England, and Canada. His creations have won numerous awards. Several companies also commission his artistic vision to create murals and other works on various objects.
