Originally from Touraine, the cradle of France’s châteaux, Isabelle Sauvineau has lived in Quebec for many years. As a child from an immigrant family, she discovered early on the evocative power of drawing, offered by her mother as a companion in solitude. This simple gesture quickly became an essential form of expression—an open space where imagination could take shape. From the very beginning, her artistic drive has been rooted in the desire to give form to what her imagination evokes. For a long time, finding the right visual references was a challenge, both creatively and legally.
The arrival of artificial intelligence marked a turning point in her practice: it now allows her to generate unique visuals, aligned with her ideas, while easing concerns about copyright. These digital creations serve as a foundation, which she sometimes reworks using the Procreate program, depending on the inspiration or needs of each project. For her, AI does not replace the artist’s hand—it enriches the process, opening the door to a new visual language.
Self-taught, she began her career as a painter about thirty years ago. Her universe, filled with poetry and sensitivity, has been showcased in several exhibitions and symposiums, notably at the Amsterdam Whitney International Fine Art Gallery in New York’s Chelsea district.
Under the pseudonym Izano, she now explores contemporary figurative art. Her work shifts between graphite, pastel, and above all, oil painting—a medium she handles with instinctive grace. As a full-time artist and teacher, she shares her passion and expertise with generosity.
Her credo: “If you believe in the magic of art, you will find in a painting the imagination of its
creator.”
